Born with a passion for music Sonny Carson at an early age of 6 started experimenting with different musical instruments and was given an opportunity to strum his first guitar at age 10. This led him on the road in trying to perfect his technique and discovering new forms of music through the years. Extreme metal started to seep out of the gutters and the interest was too overwhelming. Beginning with Slayer the most influential band turned to even heavier forms of Metal. Atheist and Suffocation where among the long list of influential bands. He then started his very own project in his home town Charleston South Carolina with a band called Severed. After working the band for a few years Sonny decided that it was time to expand himself and moved to Atlanta GA. He was very pleased to find such a vast amount of musical talent and began working on a new band called Delirium Tremens. Wishing for a more Brutal approach to music Delirium disbanded and he started Corpseworm. After years of battling money issues among other things Corpseworm was put on hold. Still searching for band members he stumbled across bass player Stephen Morley a prodigy in Sonny’s eyes. They worked together on a few projects but finally in an amazing never in a life time opportunity found Steve Flynn former Atheist drummer looking for a new band. Luckily Steve Flynn loved the material that both Stephen and Sonny had arranged they decided to start a band together now called Gnostic. During the course of arranging new material Kelly Shaefer front man for the Pioneers of Technical Death Metal Atheist called Flynn to reform Atheist and do a reunion tour. As luck has it, Kelly needed a fill in guitarist because of his long battle with CTS so Sonny instantly volunteered. Not believing that in his youth playing Atheist tapes in his car among friends and listening in awe would ever result in actually becoming an Atheist member.
